Congrats! You got your Medical Marijuana Grower License. You’ve finally stepped into your world of cannabis. And now that you are growing marijuana at home, you’ll face a set of challenges as a grower, that is not there at a general grow farm.
But before growing marijuana, I urge you to go through your state rules as every single state has its own set of rules for growing marijuana.
And being a beginner, you might feel strangled with the information stuffed online for growing marijuana. This is why we’ve made this guide to begin your journey of indoor cannabis.
So, shall we begin then?
Select Your Cultivation Space
The very first step for growing marijuana is finding space where you want to grow it. It can be a closet, an empty basement, or even a small corner of your house. As the equipment required for growing marijuana will totally depend on the space chosen. My personal advice to you as a beginner is to grow small. And the reason behind it is that marijuana growing needs a learning curve. And it is quite certain that you might lose your plants due to pests or disease. So, if you will start small you might not feel the setbacks that much.
Select Your Grow Lights
Lights play a vital role in controlling the quantity and quality of your cannabis yield. So, you can choose anyone from these:
HID Grow Lights
Though slightly expensive, these high-intensity discharge lights offer a triple threat of efficiency, value, and output.
Fluorescent
Generally recommendable for small scale growers, these lights are very cost-effective and also do not need any cooling system. But these lights are not as efficient as other ones.
LED Lights
The most efficient lights for growing marijuana indoors, that help in achieving a better quality yield. The only drawback is the cost of setting them up.
Induction Lights
Just like a fluorescent bulb, these lights are more efficient and long-lasting than the other grow lights.
Air And Water
Like all other plants, marijuana also needs CO2. And for that, you must ensure proper airflow. So, make an environment that has a dehumidifier, air conditioner, supporting CO2 system for better regulation of the growing process. And maintain a temperature of 70-85° F along with lights.
Water can have a huge effect on your yield. As the presence of dissolved minerals can expand the roots and hurt your plant. So, you must filter your water always. And never overwater your plants.
Soil And Nutrients
High-quality potting soil is an obvious choice for growing marijuana. And if you want to be specific, then buy some pre-fertilized soil as you won’t have to add nutrients to that. And if not, then you can use the regular soil and then feed in nutrients from time to time.
Nutrients must be fed at least once in a week as marijuana is a delicate plant. You need to pay more attention to the primary trifecta of Phosphorus, Potassium, and Nitrogen.
Once you get comfortable with your experience of growing marijuana then you can get your medical cannabis card for increasing your growing limit.
